Story[]

Aidan Pearson worked on the campaign of City Councillor Regina Hayes when she ran for mayor of Columbus in 2016. Her campaign was partially funded by the Druf organization, which was (at least from 2016-2019) embroiled in scandal for money laundering and illegal training.

Aidan exposed Regina's connections to Shelly Meyers, who in turn, aired them to the public. Aidan did not warn Regina, despite Shelly sitting on the story for two weeks, and intended to leave them both hanging out to dry, making a name for himself in the way he defended Regina. However, Shelly blackmailed Aidan, forcing him to come forward on-air, and pressuring him to hand over evidence against Regina to law enforcement. Aidan managed to salvage the interview on Morning Show, coming off a hero who was intent on serving the public, even if he had to betray a woman he had long worked for and admired. He claimed to have had the evidence for a few months, but needed to substantiate it before coming forward ("The Aide").

Months later, while talking to Councilman Roger Lark at a networking event, Aidan ran into Shelly again. He insulted her several times during the evening, tensions still high between them. Aidan was trying to get Roger to run for mayor on a platform centering on healthcare, and was not pleased when Roger seemed to listen to Shelly's dissenting opinions. However, while Roger did smack Aidan down a little, he didn't outwardly express favoritism of one over the other, and continued to let Aidan speak after Shelly left. When pressed, Aidan told Roger that Shelly has her admirable qualities, but he doesn't trust her ("Options").
